The course is designed for professionals who assist and move individuals as part of their role. This Ofqual-regulated, nationally recognised qualification equips participants with the theoretical and practical skills needed to ensure safe handling practices that maintain the health, safety, and dignity of both the caregiver and the individual being moved.

Participants will understand the importance of safe manual handling practices, highlighting how proper techniques can reduce workplace injuries. The session will cover statistics and consequences of improper handling, emphasizing the impact on both individuals and organizations. Additionally, learners will explore the legal responsibilities for employers and employees in ensuring safe manual handling environments.

Anatomy and Movement Mechanics

The course provides an overview of the anatomy of the spine, explaining its structure and vulnerabilities. Participants will also learn about the mechanics of movement and their impact on safety, focusing on how improper techniques can lead to injuries.

Risk Assessments and Personal Plans

Participants will gain skills in identifying risks in manual handling, allowing them to pinpoint potential hazards in various scenarios. The session will also teach them how to develop personal handling plans tailored to specific tasks and individuals.
