Can training be scheduled on weekends?

Yes, we offer training seven days a week to ensure we can fit into your care home’s schedule without interrupting your vital services.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the First Aid at Work course?

Three days in the classroom, or one day of online learning plus two classroom days for the blended version. Requalification is two days.

What is the difference between FAW and EFAW?

FAW covers everything in EFAW plus a wider range of injuries and illnesses. It suits higher-risk or larger workplaces.

How long is the certificate valid?

Three years. Before it expires, first aiders can take the two-day requalification course instead of the full three days.

Do first aiders need refresher training?

HSE strongly recommends a half-day refresher each year between qualifications. We run a three-hour annual refresher.

Can you train our team at our premises?

Yes, for groups of up to 12. We bring all equipment and course materials; you provide a room with clear floor space.

Can we host the training at our venue?

Absolutely. We can run training on-site at your workplace, whether that is an office, a school or nursery, a care home, a restaurant or hotel, to keep disruption to a minimum. Alternatively, you can join one of our scheduled courses at The Pavilion, Kingsway, Gloucester.

How do you customise the training programmes?

Our training follows HSE recommendations and can be tailored to your specific workplace needs. If certain injuries or incidents occur frequently in your environment—such as burns or workplace accidents—we can focus on these areas to ensure your team is prepared. Is it really necessary to refresh our first aid skills?

Refreshing first aid skills is not a legal requirement for most workplaces, but it is highly recommended by the HSE to minimise the risk of skill fade. Regular updates help ensure your team remains confident and prepared to respond effectively in an emergency.

However, in healthcare settings, annual first aid updates are required as part of CQC compliance to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.

What does a typical training day look like?

Each session runs from 0900 to 1600hrs and includes a mix of lecture-based learning and practical exercises, all conducted at your location. This format is designed to maximise learning retention and empower your staff to apply their skills immediately.
